Upload files to the canvas

Upload images, video, and audio from your computer, then reference those files in Agent or downstream nodes.

You can place images, video, and audio from your computer directly on the canvas. Each uploaded file becomes its own node, where you can preview, move, connect, or give it to Agent.

Uploading a file does not start a generation. To use it, mention the node with @ in Agent or connect it to a downstream image, video, or audio node.

1. Choose an upload method

How you want to uploadWhat to do
Select one or more files from your computerSelect + in the left canvas toolbar, then choose Upload
Place files at a specific canvas locationDrag them from Finder or File Explorer and drop them onto an empty area
Paste a screenshot or copied media fileReturn to the canvas and press ⌘ V; on Windows, use Ctrl V

Files uploaded through + appear in the middle of the current view. Files added by drag and drop appear near the place where you release them.

2. Upload from the add menu

  1. Select + in the left canvas toolbar;
  2. Choose Upload from the Add menu;
  3. Select an image, video, or audio file from your computer;
  4. Wait for the upload to finish;
  5. When the preview appears, select the node and check the content.

Upload from the add menu

If you select several files, Creative OS creates a node for every successful upload. One failed file does not remove the files that finished successfully.

3. Drag files onto the canvas

Drag and drop is useful when you already know where the files belong.

  1. Find the file in Finder or File Explorer;
  2. Hold and drag it onto the canvas;
  3. When the upload indicator appears, move the file to the target position;
  4. Release the mouse button or trackpad;
  5. After the upload finishes, the node appears near that position.

You can drag several supported media files at once. When they finish uploading, open each image, video, or audio node and confirm that its preview or playback works.

4. Paste a screenshot or media file

If an image is already on your clipboard, you do not need to save it before adding it.

  1. Take a screenshot or copy an image in another app;
  2. Return to the Creative OS canvas;
  3. Press ⌘ V; on Windows, use Ctrl V;
  4. Wait for the image node to appear in the middle of the current view.

If the clipboard contains canvas nodes, paste creates copies of those nodes. If it contains a media file, Creative OS uploads the file.

5. Give an uploaded file to Agent

A finished upload means the file is on the canvas. Agent still needs an explicit reference before it can use that file in the current task.

  1. Open Agent;
  2. Type @ in the input;
  3. Choose the node you just uploaded;
  4. Explain how Agent should use it;
  5. Send the instruction.

For example:

@Front product image Keep the bottle, label, and colors unchanged. Give me three visual directions for a summer outdoor ad. Do not generate images yet.

You can also connect the uploaded node to a downstream node and mention that upstream source with @ in the downstream Prompt field.

6. Supported files

Common upload formats and limits are:

File typeCommon formatsMaximum size per file
ImageJPG, PNG30MB
VideoMP4, MOV500MB
AudioMP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG, M4A, WMA50MB

Supported types can vary by entry point. If the file picker does not allow a file or the page shows a format warning, follow the requirement shown there.

Documents, spreadsheets, and other work files can be uploaded as attachments in Agent. See Chat with Agent.

7. If an upload fails

Check the message on the page, then confirm:

  1. The file format is supported;
  2. The file is within the size limit for its type;
  3. The file opens or plays correctly on your computer;
  4. Your network connection is stable;
  5. Your account can use that node type.

If you uploaded many files at once, retry them in smaller groups. This makes the failed file easier to identify and avoids uploading successful files again.

Check the result

After uploading, confirm:

  • Images display correctly;
  • Video and audio play correctly;
  • Every file has its own node;
  • Each @ reference in Agent points to the intended file;
  • Downstream nodes do not include references you do not need.

Generating an image, video, or audio file uses Tapies based on the selected model and settings.
