Generate and edit images
Create image nodes, then use the image Toolbar to crop, redraw, relight, outpaint, cut out, and enhance your results.
In Creative OS, you can generate and edit images without leaving the canvas. Select a generated or uploaded image node to open its Toolbar.
The Toolbar shows the tools available for the current image and account. Hover over an icon to see its name.
Generate an image
- Create an image node from the Add menu, or ask Agent to create an image task;
- Describe the subject, setting, composition, lighting, and style;
- Add product, character, composition, or style references as needed;
- State how each reference should be used;
- Choose the model, aspect ratio, size, and number of results;
- In Ask mode, review the inputs, settings, and estimated Tapies;
- Open the finished image at full size and check it closely.
Here is a prompt you can use:
Create a vertical key visual for a skincare serum. Place the bottle slightly below center against a deep blue background, with soft cool light from above and a small amount of mist around it. Use @Front product image to preserve the bottle shape, cap, and label placement. Use @Lighting reference only for the light. Use a 9:16 frame and leave space for a headline at the top.
Describe everything that must be correct before adding style. Clear subject, camera, and spatial relationships make the result easier to control.
Use prompt shortcuts
The Prompt field in an image node supports / shortcuts. Type / to open a menu of ready-made instructions for common, multi-step image tasks.
- Press
↑or↓to move through the menu; - Press
EnterorTabto choose the current instruction; - Press
Escto close the menu; - You can also select an instruction with the pointer.
Multi-angle grid
Multi-Angle Grid uses one reference image to create a 3×3 contact sheet of the same scene. The nine frames use different camera positions and shot sizes while keeping the people, action, setting, props, lighting, and time of day as consistent as possible.
To use it:
- Connect one reference image to an image node;
- Select the Prompt field in the image node;
- Type
/; - Choose Multi-Angle Grid;
- Creative OS starts generating with the image model and settings currently selected.
The instruction is unavailable until an image is connected. After generation, use Quick Split in the Toolbar to turn the grid into nine separate image nodes.
Multi-Angle Grid calls the selected image model and consumes Tapies based on the current model and settings.
Open the image toolbar
- Select a generated or uploaded image;
- The image node becomes selected;
- The Toolbar appears above it;
- Hover over an icon to see its name;
- Select a tool to open its controls.
Most generative edits create a new result node beside the source image and keep the source in place. You can compare the two or return to the earlier version at any time.
Main toolbar tools
| Tool | What it helps you fix | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Crop | Remove unwanted edges and reset the frame | Select Crop, drag the crop boundary or choose an aspect ratio, then confirm |
| Multi-angle | Generate another view of the current subject | Select Multi-angle, adjust rotation, tilt, distance, or wide-angle effect, then generate |
| Redraw | Change one area of an image | Select Redraw, mark the area, describe the change, then generate |
| Relight | Change the light direction and atmosphere | Select Relight, choose the main light direction, then adjust brightness, color temperature, and rim lighting |
Crop
Cropping does not require you to describe the whole image again. Drag the boundary to keep the area you need or choose a common aspect ratio. When you confirm, Creative OS creates the cropped result on the canvas.
Multi-angle
Use Multi-angle to explore a product, character, or object from another viewpoint. Drag the control to adjust horizontal rotation and vertical angle, then change the distance or wide-angle effect. Confirm the settings and generate.
The model has to infer parts of the subject that are not visible in the source image. Check the product structure, character identity, and small details after generating a new angle.
Redraw
Redraw changes only the area you mark.
- Select Redraw;
- Paint over the area you want to change;
- Describe what should replace it or be added;
- Add another reference image if needed;
- Choose the resolution and number of results;
- Select Generate.
For example, to replace a white vase on a table with a silver speaker, mark the vase and enter: Replace it with a silver portable speaker. Keep the existing light direction and table shadow.
Relight
Relight adjusts the direction, brightness, and color temperature of the main light and can add rim lighting. Use it when the subject and composition are already correct but the light or mood needs work.
Choose the light direction, finish the settings, and generate. The result appears as a new image node on the canvas.
Tools in the more menu
Select ··· in the Toolbar to open more image tools.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Outpaint | Extends the image boundary and fills the new area |
| Erase | Removes a marked object and fills the space from the surrounding image |
| Annotate | Marks an area so you can explain what to change or preserve |
| Enhance | Creates an enhancement node for clarity or high-resolution upscaling |
| Resize pixels | Changes the image to an exact width and height |
| Cutout | Detects the subject and removes the background |
| Quick Split | Turns a 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4 grid into separate image nodes |
Outpaint
Open Outpaint, drag the image boundary outward or choose a target aspect ratio, then generate. Creative OS keeps the original image and fills the new area.
Use Outpaint to turn a landscape image into a portrait image, add space for a headline, or extend the environment around a person or product.
Erase
Open Erase, paint over the content you want to remove, then generate. Creative OS fills the area using the surrounding image.
Work on one clear area at a time. If you need to remove several objects that are far apart, handle them in separate passes so each result is easier to check.
Annotate
Use Annotate to indicate “change this,” “keep this area,” or “continue from here.” Once the marks are ready, give the annotated image to Agent and explain what they mean.
Enhance and resize pixels
- Enhance: use it for a low-resolution image, to add detail, or to prepare a larger output;
- Resize pixels: use it when you already know the exact target width and height.
Enhance can regenerate small details. After processing packaging, faces, or text, zoom in and check whether anything changed.
Cutout
Cutout detects the subject and creates a transparent-background result. Use it for product composites, background replacement, or asset layouts.
Hair, transparent materials, and complex edges may leave gaps. Check the result at full size. If an edge is wrong, return to the source image and try the cutout again.
Quick split
Quick Split is designed for storyboards, character sheets, and other images arranged in a regular grid. Choose the matching grid size, and each cell becomes its own image node.
Before splitting, confirm that the source is a regular grid so subjects are not cut at the edges.
Save, view, and download
The right side of the Toolbar also includes:
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Save to library | Saves the current image to the asset library for future use |
| Full-screen view | Opens the image at a larger size so you can inspect structure, faces, text, and edges |
| Download | Saves the current image to your computer |
Some canvases also show color markers. Use them to flag images that need more work or deserve attention.
Multi-angle, Redraw, Relight, Outpaint, Erase, Enhance, and other generative tools call a model and consume Tapies based on the model, resolution, and number of results shown in the panel. Review the estimated Tapies before starting.
